The learning process during the pandemic is carried out by e-learning. Thus, an appropriate learning model is needed to improve students' critical thinking skills. This study examines the effect of problem-based learning through elearning on students' critical thinking skills during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted at SMA Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru. This study employed quasi-experimental research with the research subjects of 10th-grade students of SMA Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru. In practice, students were given a pretest and posttest. The research parameters are students' critical thinking skills. Indicators of critical thinking skills are analyzing, synthesizing, recognizing, solving problems, concluding, and evaluating. Data collection on critical thinking skills is pretest and posttest questions. Data were presented and analyzed inferentially. The results of students' critical thinking skills obtained an N-gain index of 0.44 (effective category). Overall, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model through e-learning effectively improves students' critical thinking skills, but in detail from the five indicators, it is less effective for improving evaluation.

With the correct approach to education, students may develop their capacity for critical thinking. With the use of the phypox app, this research intends to detail how well a problem-based learning paradigm may improve students' critical thinking abilities. Eleven students from Science 2, 4, and 5 at SMA Negeri 22 in Surabaya participated in this quasi-experimental study by taking pre- and post-tests as a group. A quantitative descriptive approach was used for data analysis. With an average n-gain score of 0.80 for XI Science 2, 0.83 for XI Science 4, and 0.78 for XI Science 5, the findings demonstrated that students' critical thinking abilities increased. Classes 4 and 5 of the XI Science program had the greatest and lowest n-gains, respectively. And a Non-Parametric Anova Test result of 0.13 was achieved. After considering the evidence, it is clear that phypox-assisted problem-based learning significantly enhances high school students' critical thinking abilities.

Tuntutan era global Partnership of 21st Century Skills yang mengidentifikasi bahwa peserta didik abad-21 harus mampu mengembangkan keterampilan yang berdaya saing. Keterampilan yang dimaksudkan adalah keterampilan untuk berpikir tingkat tinggi (Higher order thinking), dalam aspek berpikir analitis dani berpikir kritis. Di Indonesia, tingkat berpikir kritis siswa masih tergolong rendah. Keterampilan berpikir kritis adalah kemampuan siswa dalam menganalisis argumen, membuat kesimpulan menggunakan penalaran, menilai atau mengevaluasi, dan membuat keputusan atau pemecahan masalah.Pembelajaran biologi mempunyai karakteristik materi yang sfesifik menuntut guru untuk mempunyai sikap yang lebih kreatif dan inovatif dalam pembelajaran. Salah satunya adalah penggunaan model pembelajaran yang variatif. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang bisa digunakan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan Berpikir kritis siswa adalah model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran Biologi. metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah literatur review dengan mengkaji sejumlah sumber yang relavan terkait judul penelitian.
