This study aims to determine the effect of idealism, professional commitment, and religiosity on tax consultant ethical decision-making. Tax consultants are often faced with ethical dilemmas that are influenced by individual factors, where they have to make a decision that is against the tax law and to comply clients' demands to maintain the sustainability of their business. This causes the tax consultant to consider an ethical decision to end the dilemmas. This study used 143 tax consultants who are certified and registered at Ikatan Konsultan Pajak Indonesia (IKPI) in Bali Branch as the research sample. The sample was determined using simple random sampling method. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that idealism, professional commitment, and religiosity has positive impact on ethical decision making by tax consultants in Bali.

This research objective is to get evidence about the effect of perception of the importance of ethical and social responsibility, Machiavellianism, ethical reasoning, idealism, experience, and professional commitment to ethical decision-making of tax consultants. Data were obtained from the questionnaire. This research used the convenience sampling method. This study used 60 tax consultants as the study samples in DKI Jakarta, and the data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. This research showed that the perception of the importance of ethical and social responsibility, Machiavellianism, and ethical reasoning affects the ethical decision-making of tax consultants. The results showed that tax consultants with a high perception of the importance of ethical and social responsibility and ethical reasoning and low perception of Machiavellianism support that tax consultants conduct ethical decision-making. Meanwhile, idealism, experience, and professional commitment do not affect tax consultants' ethical decision-making. The implications of this research are for tax consultants to maintain the perception of the importance of ethics and social responsibility, and ethical considerations to make ethical decisions. The limitation of this study is that it uses respondents' perceptions of questions related to all variables. This finding shows that there is still a subjective element of the respondents.

Adanya permasalahan dual agency menyebabkan konsultan pajak seringkali mengalami dilema etis, sehingga konsultan pajak diharuskan membuat keputusan yang etis. Konsultan pajak wajib membina hubungan dengan wajib pajak tetapi di satu sisi harus mematuhi peraturan yang berlaku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efek moderasi locus of control pada pengaruh idealisme dan komitmen profesional terhadap keputusan etis konsultan pajak. Sampel yang diperoleh berjumlah 98 responden pada kantor konsultan pajak di Kota Denpasar dan Kabupaten Badung. Teknik penentuan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling dengan kriteria yaitu konsultan pajak yang tidak dibatasi jabatannya serta memiliki sekurang-kurangnya satu sertifikasi brevet. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner, dengan teknik analisis data berupa analisis regresi linear berganda dan moderated regression analysis. Hasil pengujian hipotesis memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan pengaruh idealisme dan komitmen profesional terhadap keputusan etis konsultan pajak, sedangkan locus of control tidak mampu memberikan efek moderasi pada pengaruh idealisme dan komitmen profesional terhadap keputusan etis konsultan pajak.
