Replacement policy in Content-Centric Networking (CCN) is a necessary and current, function as an important part in Interest packet caching. Pending Interest Table (PIT) is the main and core cache tables in CCN and plays a significant role for recording the information of Interest packets that are forwarded but are still waiting for matching with incoming Data packets. However, PIT management is more fundamental with regard to CCN operations for better memory efficiency. The PIT size determination of the forwarding system is a difficult problem in PIT management. Due to the limited PIT sizing, PIT replacement is utilized to remove the current entry from PIT and constructing a new space for the incoming entry to it. In a disaster area, this problem is due to the massive Interest packet that generating by survivors from the disaster and rescuers. The PIT overflow could be subjected due to use of long Interest lifetimes that would simultaneously increase the number of entries in the PIT. Thus particularly when there is no flexible replacement policy, hence affecting PIT performance. Therefore, the ultimate aim of this paper is to develop the replacement policy that can deal with this problem. The proposed policy is a PIT management based on CCN PIT replacement policy for managing the PIT during a natural disaster, which can lead to mitigating PIT overflowing. The results showed the overall scenarios, the proposed policy better PIT memory usage as well as decreasing the Interest drop, delay time, Interest lifetime and Interest retransmission. A positive significance influence in t his work would be to presents a formulate a rule as a function which can decrease the delay and thus be leading to increasing PIT utilization, which will be very much useful for survivors, emergency rescue teams as well as emergency operation centers.

MANET (Mobile Ad hoc Networking) is an ad hoc network formed by wireless mobile nodes without any fixed infrastructure. Each node can send, receive and forward data from other nodes. The volatile nature of wireless medium and mobility of nodes pose a great challenge for efficient routing in MANET. There are several routing protocols developed for MANET. ZRP (Zone Routing Protocol) is one of the hybrid MANET routing protocols. It combines proactive and reactive routing approaches for better scalability. In ZRP, the nodes build overlapping zones and maintain topology information of the nodes within their zone. The zone size is decided by zone radius which is defined as no. of hops. Proactive routing is used within the zone and reactive routing is used outside zone. ZRP uses bordercasting to efficiently control the flooding of reactive route queries in outward regions. Each forwarding node propagates the query to selected neighbors which lead to uncovered border nodes of the zone. Ad hoc networks commonly use single channel network. While using single channel network in ZRP, bordercasting can be done either using multiple unicasting or broadcasting. This paper analyses and compares the impact of using multiple unicasting vs broadcasting on routing performance of ZRP, in single channel wireless network. Networking Simulator 2 (NS2) has been used for the simulations. The Qos parameters used for routing performance measurement were Packet delivery ratio (PDR), Average end-to-end delay, throughput and Normalized routing load (NRL). The simulation was done at high mobility by varying network size from small to large network. While using broadcasting, QD2 query control method was used to further control flooding of route queries to uncovered regions. The simulation results conclude that broadcasting is more performance efficient than multiple unicasting for bordercasting in ZRP. General TermsMANET, Mobile Ad hoc networking, ZRP, Zone routing.

Towards threshold‐agnostic heavy‐hitter classification

A heavy-hitter (HH) network traffic flow consumes considerably more network resources than other flows combined. The classification of HHs is critical to provide, among others, the required level of Quality of Service and reliability in both conventional and data center networks. HH classification is typically threshold-based. However, there is no consistent and accepted threshold or set of thresholds that would reliably classify flows. Furthermore, existing threshold-driven approaches use counters (e.g., duration, packets, and bytes); thus, their accuracy depends on how complete the flow information is. This paper paves the way to threshold-agnostic HH identification by proposing an approach that performs HH classification based on per-flow packet size distribution (PSD) and template matching (TM). PSD allows capturing the behavior and dynamism of network traffic flows (even from their first few packets). TM enables to classify HHs by measuring the similarity between the PSD of observed flows and a set of master templates representing the flow size behavior of HH classes. We evaluated the PSD-and TM-based approach using flows extracted from real traffic traces. Results show that our approach classifies HHs accurately and timely, corroborating that the threshold-less perspective is feasible for HH identification.
