Abstract:Background: Pigmentation of gingiva is a condition where the color of gingiva is purple, brown, or black instead of coral pink. Gingival pigmentation is caused by melanin pigment and occurs through three stages, namely melanocyte activation, melanin synthesis, and melanin expression.
