Logam tanah jarang (LTJ) merupakan kelompok dari 17 unsur termasuk scandium (Sc), yttrium (Y), dan 15 lantanida dari lantanum (La,57) ke lutetium (Lu, 71). Permintaan global terkait LTJ telah meningkat dalam aplikasi teknologi selama dekade terakhir karena sifat kimia, katalitik, listrik, magnetik, dan optik yang dimilikinya. Mayoritas dari tanah jarang dunia disimpan di tiga mineral basnasit, monasit, dan senotim. Monasit terdiri atas monasit(Ce), monasit(Nd), dan monasit (La). Lantanum hidroksida berperan dalam menghambat perkembangan kalsifikasi vaskular dengan menurunkan level serum fosfor sedangkan neodimium berperan sebagai magnet dalam suatu pencitraan alat MRI sehingga penyakit dapat dibantu disembuhkan dengan adanya senyawa pengontras tersebut. Pemisahan LTJ dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai cara yaitu ekstraksi pelarut, resin penukar ion, dan pengendapan. Teknik pengendapan dijadikan pilihan karena mudah, cepat dan murah. Agen pengendap digunakan dalam proses pemisahan LTJ diharapkan mampu memberikan hasil recovery yang baik. Efisiensi pengendapan menggunakan agen pengendap berbeda dapat dilihat dari recovery yang didapatkan. Efisiensi pengendapan tertinggi ditunjukkan oleh agen pengendap asam oksalat dan amonium hidroksida masing-masing sebesar 98.68 dan 99.99%. Tinjauan ini menjelaskan seberapa baik agen pengendap yang digunakan untuk memisahkan LTJ menjadi tanah jarang individunya.

This study uses a qualitative approach with Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis model. The basis of this research is to analyse the discourse on environmental pollution of gold processing waste at the Poboya gold mine in the news text of Radarsulteng.id. The object of the research is the media portal Radarsulteng.id and the unit of analysis chosen is the news text regarding the gold mine in it based on the predetermined criteria. We found that Radarsulteng.id supports the discourse on closing and stopping mining activities. However, Radarsulteng.id does not provide in-depth information about the social and economic conditions of the Poboya people who still depend on mining as their main livelihood. In analyzing the practice of discourse, we found that Radarsulteng.id tends to strengthen the arguments of those who reject PETI activities in Poboya. In the analysis of social practice, we connect the behavior of the Poboya community with the socio-cultural theory of Pierre Bourdieu. The behavior of the Poboya people still depends on the existing social conditions that their habitus is built based on social conditions. This condition is the interdependence of the Poboya community with mining activities that have been going on for a long time, making it difficult for them to escape from it.

Separation of Dysprosium (Dy) from Rare Earth Hidroxide Using Precipitation Methods

The separation process of Dysprosium (Dy) from other Rare Earth Elements (REE) in monazite was carried out considering various applications of Dy in high purity. The Dy elements can be used as a dopant in Thermoluminescence Detector (TLD) crystals to monitor the personnel dose of radiation workers. The separation process of Dy is hard to do due to the similarity of the physical and chemical properties of all REE. This research was conducted to separate Dy by a precipitation process at a certain pH. The feed used is Rare Earth Hydroxide (REOH) concentrate from a monazite processing. The variation of the precipitation used was pH 4.5 to pH 8.5 with 0.5 intervals. The highest precipitation of Dy with an efficiency of 24.47% was obtained at pH 8. Other REEs precipitated at pH 8.5, while the Dy was found the most in the filtrate.
