The research aimed to produce biscuits formulated with Bilih fish and to analyse the effect of Bilihfish-based biscuits on the growth of experimental rats. Six biscuit formulas were developed using three different amounts of Bilih fish flour (0 g, 20 g, and 30 g added to one formula dough) and two flavors (chocolate and vanilla). One biscuit formula was selected based on the best organoleptic test. Four treatments were applied to 24 male growing rats (21 day olds of the Spraque Dawley strain) for 28 days using a completely randomized design study. The treatments used were P1 (standard feed), P2 (standard feed + standard biscuits), P3 (standard feed + standard biscuits + pure omega-3 oil) and P4 (standard feed + the best formula biscuit). The parameters measured on rats were weight and tail length. The best formula biscuit based on the organoleptic test was the chocolate-flavor biscuits prepared with 20 g Bilih fish flour. The longest tail length was found in the P4 treatment (2,257±0.52 cm), which was significantly longer than the P2 (1.46±0.34 cm) and P1 (1.34±0.29 cm) treatments. No significant weight differences were found among the rats in all treatments. Hence, the chocolate-flavor biscuits formulated with the addition of 20 g Bilih fish flour increased the linear growth in experimental rats as shown by the significant difference in the tail lengths found in the treatment group.

AbstrakPendahuluan; Minyak ikan lele (Clarias gariepinus) mengandung omega 3 dan omega 6 yang dapat menurunkan kadar trigliserida dalam darah dan memberikan efek positif terhadap jaringan hati. Tujuan; untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian minyak ikan lele terhadap jumlah sel saraf, sel hapatosit dan sel ginjal yang rusak pada tikus galur Sprague Dawley yang diberi pakan hiperkolesterolemia. Bahan dan Metode; Desain penelitian ini Randomized Control trial (RCT) pada hewan coba tikus galur Sprague Dawley dengan empat perlakuan yaitu A1 (kontrol), A2 (minyak ikan lele), A3 (minyak ikan lele + omega 3) dan A4 (minyak ikan lele+omega 3+vitamin E). Sel-sel yang mengalami abnormalitas dihitung di bawah mikroskop cahaya (pembesaran 20x40) untuk kemudian dianalisis univariat (rata-rata±standar deviasi) serta analisis bivariat (oneway ANOVA). Hasil; Rata-rata jumlah sel yang mengalami kerusakan pada sel saraf di hipokampus pada kelompok tikus kontrol (A1) tidak berbeda signifikan dibandingkan semua kelompok tikus yang diberikan minyak ikan lele (A2, A3, A4) yaitu (p=0,574). Hasil serupa juga ditunjukkan pada rata-rata jumlah sel hepatosit (p=0,369) dan sel ginjal yang rusak (p=0,722). Kesimpulan; Pemberian minyak ikan lele dengan komposisi berbeda tidak memberikan perbedaan signifikan pada kerusakan sel saraf, sel hepatosit, dan sel ginjal tikus galur

Fish oil has omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which provide health benefits such as prevention of an increase in total cholesterol, triglycerides, and a decrease in blood HDL, as well as being anti-inflammatory agents in humans. The present study was conducted to determine the antihyperlipidemic and anti-inflammatory activities of eel fish (Anguilla marmorata [Q.] Gaimard) oil extracts on white rats (Rattus norvegicus). To test hyperlipidemia, 25 rats were divided into 5 groups and treated with; 1.5 % PEG 400 (negative control), 20 mg simvastatin (positive control), test doses of 18, 36, and 72 mg/kg. The treatments were carried out for 39 days. In investigating the anti-inflammatory activity, 25 white rats were divided into 5 groups; negative control, positive control, three-dose treatments of 22, 44, and 88 mg/200 g. Blood cholesterol levels were measured and percent inflammation was determined. The results showed that the eel oil extracts led to a decreased of total cholesterol levels 49.60 %, triglycerides 31.15 %, and HDL 14.3 %. The percentage of inflammation values ranged from 31.73 to 54.48 %. The findings indicated that the most effective doses for the antihyperlipidemic effect were 72 mg/ kg, while 22 mg/200 g for the anti-inflammatory activity.
