PEG-related polymer resins as synthetic supports

Abstract: Combinatorial chemistry has become a significant part of the discovery and optimization process for novel drugs, affinity ligands, and catalysts. The polymeric supports play a key role in combinatory chemistry. Therefore, various kinds of functional polymer resins have been exploited as supports, reagents, and catalysts in organic synthesis. In comparison to the conventional Merrifield resins, the poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-related polymer resins have advantages including good compatibilities with polar solve… Show more

“…In order to achieve the desired properties, we have selected poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as graing material because PEG is chemically inert and robust which can impart hydrophilic character in to the polymer supports and are extensively exploited in different synthetic transformations. 11 The optimum reaction conditions were achieved by graing two different chain lengths of PEG having molar masses 400 Da and 1500 Da. The lyophilized chloro ethyl G 3 dendrimer resins were independently subjected to Williamson's etherication with PEG molecules in dry THF under low pressure of N 2 atm in an overnight reaction.…”

“…The poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-related polymer resins have advantages including good compatibilities with polar solvents, good solvent absorbency and swelling properties compared to the Merrifield resins. Zhu reviewed primarily on the more recent work in the field of developing PEG-related polymer resins as supports for organic synthesis [37].…”
