Abstract: A new species of Leptodactylus frog (Anura: Leptodactylidae) from the South American Gran Chaco, morphologically similar and previously confused with the widespread L. mystacinus, is described, through the use of multiple sources of evidence (molecular, external morphology, coloration, osteology, bioacoustics, and behavior).
