Background and Aims Cryptozoospermia is an extreme oligozoospermia with an unsatisfactory treatment effect, with an incidence rate of approximately 8.73% in male infertility, whose effective solution has become the call of the times. Western Medicine has achieved certain effects through drugs, surgery, and assisted reproductive therapy, but this is still not ideal. Traditional Chinese medicine ( TCM ) has made many achievements in other disciplines; however, there is still a lack of evidence‐based medical evidence to improve sperm production. Methods The relevant literatures from the China National Knowledge Internet ( CNKI ) and PubMed in the past 10 years were collected in this article, of which the mechanisms, advantages, or current controversies of various treatment methods of Western Medicine and TCM were analyzed, to find new treatment methods and research directions. Results With the development of modern science and technology, medical treatments for cryptozoospermia have become increasingly abundant; however, there is still no universally recognized unified and effective guiding plan. Although TCM has not been fully verified by evidence‐based medicine, most TCM combined with Western Medicine can achieve unexpected results. Conclusion The combination of TCM and Western Medicine may become a bane for cryptozoospermia and bring good news to infertile men worldwide.

Pediatric tuina for recurrent respiratory tract infection in children: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Background: To evaluate the effects and safety of pediatric tuina for recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRTIs). Methods: Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, CNKI, Wanfang Data, VIP, and CBM databases were searched from inception to September 20 2023. Two authors independently selected studies, collected data, and evaluated methodological quality using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Revman 5.4 was used for the meta-analysis. Results: Fifteen randomized controlled trials involving 1420 pediatric patients were included in this meta-analysis. The meta-analysis indicated that pediatric tuina significantly reduced the incidence of RRTIs [MD −1.11, 95% confidence interval (CI) (−1.77, −0.46)], decreased infection duration (MD −1.16 days, 95% CI [− 1.66, − 0.66]), improved IgA (MD 0.25 g/L, 95% CI [0.09, 0.41]), IgG (MD 1.64 g/L; 95% CI [0.82, 2.45]), CD3+ (MD 3.33%, 95% CI [0.74, 5.92]), CD4+ (MD 4.78%, 95% CI [2.08, 7.48]), CD4+/CD8+ ratio (MD 0.27%, 95% CI [0.08, 0.47]), and total effective rate (RR 1.19, 95% CI [1.13, 1.25]). However, IgM levels (MD 0.26 g/L, 95% CI [−0.26, 0.81]) and CD8+ (MD −1.36%, 95% CI [− 3.12, 0.41]) were not significantly different between the groups. Moreover, no Tuina-linked adverse reactions were observed. Conclusion: Pediatric tuina has shown positive effects in RRTIs treatment. However, these results should be interpreted with caution owing to study quality. Further large-scale and high-quality randomized controlled trials are warranted to confirm these findings.

Background Pediatric Tuina has been widely used in children with acute diarrhea in China. However, due to the lack of high-quality clinical evidence, the benefit of Tuina as a therapy is not clear. We aimed to assess the effect of pediatric Tuina compared with sham Tuina as an add-on therapy in addition to usual care for 0–6-year-old children with acute diarrhea. Methods Eighty-six participants aged 0–6 years with acute diarrhea were randomized to receive pediatric Tuina plus usual care (n = 43) or sham Tuina plus usual care (n = 43). The primary outcomes were days of diarrhea from baseline and times of diarrhea on day 3. Secondary outcomes included a global change rating (GCR) and the number of days when the stool characteristics returned to normal. Adverse events were assessed. Results Pediatric Tuina was associated with a reduction in times of diarrhea on day 3 compared with sham Tuina in both ITT (crude RR, 0.73 [95% CI, 0.59–0.91]) and PP analyses (crude RR, 0.66 [95% CI, 0.53–0.83]). However, the results were not significant when we adjusted for social demographic and clinical characteristics. No significant difference was found between groups in days of diarrhea, global change rating, or number of days when the stool characteristics returned to normal. Conclusions In children aged 0–6 years with acute diarrhea, pediatric Tuina showed significant effects in terms of reducing times of diarrhea compared with sham Tuina. Studies with larger sample sizes and adjusted trial designs are warranted to further evaluate the effect of pediatric Tuina therapy.
