hospital admission during infancy or childhood can profoundly impact a child's development, functional mobility, and quality of life. [1][2][3][4][5][6] Physical therapy (PT) involvement is critical to promote activity, mitigate declines in functional mobility, and provide discharge recommendations to enhance functional recovery. 1,[7][8][9] Objectively quantifying functional mobility using a standardized outcome assessment is essential for physical therapists in all settings to determine baseline function, develop a plan of care, establish appropriate goals, and evaluate progress over time. 10 In the adult acute care setting, many PT functional mobility outcome measures are available 10 ; however, this is not true for the pediatric population. 11 Therefore, a standardized outcome measure to assess functional mobility for the pediatric acute care population is needed. 11,12
