Kardiologische Notfälle sind im Kindes-und Jugendalter selten und haben grundlegend andere Ursachen als bei Erwachsenen. Stehen bei Letzteren ischämische Herzerkrankungen aufgrund von Koronarproblemen im Vordergrund, sind es bei Kindern und Jugendlichen die angeborenen Herzfehler und deren Folgen. Die Symptome sind oft unspezifisch, umso wichtiger ist es, an eine kardiale Ursache zu denken. Erworbene Herzerkrankungen finden sich erst nach dem ersten Lebensjahr, häufig handelt es sich um Kardiomyopathien oder Erkrankungen entzündlicher Natur [5, 9, 13].
