“…In the present study, we have carefully investigated the structural, magnetic, and transport properties of the RE-based intermetallic compounds Gd 5 In 3 and Tb 5 In 3 . Both the samples show multiple magnetic transitions, [52][53][54] where the samples order ferromagnetically at a higher temperature (200 and 160 K, respectively) followed by the entry into an AFM-like state and/or spin-canted state at lower temperatures (90 and 50 K, respectively). Gd 5 In 3 has higher FM ordering temperature compared to Tb 5 In 3 .…”

“…While the distinction between FOPT and SOPT materials by means of purely magnetic measurements was usually based on indirect or qualitative procedures, there have been recent advances in establishing a quantitative criterion that allows this identification, 5 which has been shown to be valid for very diverse types of materials such as LaFeSi, Heusler alloys, cobaltites, 6 and Tb 3 Ni single crystals with peculiar magnetic behavior. 7 There has also been progress in developing a series of alloys and compounds to reach the intermediate point where the transition changed from FOPT to SOPT, as in LaFeSi 8,9 and MnFePSi. 10 Despite the broad variety of materials reported in the literature, this "promising alternative" has not materialized in the consumer market yet.…”
