Peace, a MYB-like transcription factor, regulates petal pigmentation in flowering peach ‘Genpei’ bearing variegated and fully pigmented flowers

Abstract: Summary Peace expression determined flower colouration whether pigmented or variegated. In spite of the close relationship between Peace and AtMYB123, a proanthocyanidin regulator, Peace regulates anthocyanin biosynthesis in flowering peach.

“…These results suggest that PpMYB10 plays a different role in the anthocyanin regulation of the two blood-flesh peaches. Moreover, some members of MYB10 are thought to be involved in regulating anthocyanin biosynthesis (Rahim et al, 2014;Uematsu et al, 2014). Further studies should focus on their responsiveness to both developmental and environmental stimuli in blood-flesh peaches.…”

“…Differential expression of Peace ( peach anthocyanin colour enhancement , a R2R3 MYB-like gene) determines the pattern of flower coloration in variegated petals within individual trees of flowering P. persica “Genpei” [25]. In addition, jasmonate has been reported to regulate WD-repeat/bHLH/MYB complex-mediated anthocyanin accumulation in Arabidopsis thaliana [58].…”

“…Moreover, UFGT is a key gene in anthocyanin biosynthesis, and its expression is induced by MYB TFs (Kobayashi et al, 2002). To date, seven R2R3 MYB TFs have been identified in the peach genome (Rahim et al, 2014;Uematsu et al, 2014). It is worth studying whether the expression of PpUGT78 genes is induced by specific MYB TFs, leading to the spatial and temporal patterns of anthocyanin synthesis in peach.…”
