PDU-Scale Experimental Results of CO2 Removal With Amp/Pz Solvent

Abstract: This paper provides a discussion concerning results of CO 2 removal from a gas mixture by the application of aqueous solutions of ethanoloamine (MEA) and 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) promoted with piperazine (PZ). The studies were conducted using a process development unit. Research of such a scale provides far more reliable representation of the actual industrial process than modelling and laboratory tests. The studies comprised comparative analyses entailing identical energy supplied to a reboiler as we… Show more

“…This study is a continuation of previous PDU‐scale research on CO 2 removal by 30 wt% MEA and 30/10 wt% AMP/PZ solutions using a split flow process . Both solvents were compared as well as changes to the system operating characteristics, especially L/G ratio, and have been discussed in the preceding paper.…”

“…The experimental studies conducted comprised comparative tests of different lean amine split flow process configurations at the optimum L/G ratio, which was established in previous paper . In this paper, the standard configuration (S), where the entire lean amine stream is delivered to the absorber top section (Fig.…”

“…Thanks to the research conducted on pilot installations [4,5], carried out by research team from the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal, a concept of DCCP installation was prepared, for Łaziska Power Plant in Łaziska Górne, belonging to the TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. The basic technological element of the DCCP installation is a CO2 removal module with amine solution (30% water solution of ethanolamine (MEA)) [6] or water solution with 30% AMP (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) and 10% piperazine (PZ) [7]. The CO2 removal module consists of a few process parts: amine solution storage, CO2 absorption, heat exchange and solution regeneration.…”
