PdO@CoSe2 composites: efficient electrocatalysts for water oxidation in alkaline media

Abstract: In this study, we have prepared cobalt selenide (CoSe2) due to its useful aspects from a catalysis point of view such as abundant active sites from Se edges, and significant stability in alkaline conditions.

“…As a result, additional photogenerated electrons were generated and more Pd 2+ ions were converted into Pd 0 , growing on the Pd precursors to form giant Pd nanoparticles. [37][38][39][40] Hence, MoS 2 nanostructures were combined with Pd nanoparticles. Following the combination process, samples were removed from UV irradiation boxes and repeatedly washed with DI water.…”

“…Additionally, the OER reaction is hampered by two key terminologies: slow kinetics and significant overpotential values. 5,6 Investigating an efficient and durable electrocatalyst with high electrocatalytic activity is necessary to address these issues. 7,8 To date, noble metals have traditionally been employed as benchmark HER and OER catalysts because of exceptional catalytic efficacy and lower Tafel slope values.…”

“…The fact that EWS comprises two half-reactions: the sluggish four-electron transfer oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and the easy two-electron transfer hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). , OER needs multiphase electron transfer connected to a proton and a significant overpotential to get past the slow kinetics, preventing the water splitting from happening. Additionally, the OER reaction is hampered by two key terminologies: slow kinetics and significant overpotential values. , Investigating an efficient and durable electrocatalyst with high electrocatalytic activity is necessary to address these issues. , …”
