Pd Nanoparticles Supported on Triangle‐Shaped La2O2CO3 Nanosheets: A New Highly Efficient and Durable Catalyst for Selective Hydrogenation of Cinnamaldehyde to Hydrocinnamaldehyde

Abstract: A catalyst in which Pd nanoparticles are supported on triangle‐shaped La2O2CO3 nanosheets exposing predominantly the (001) planes (Pd/La2O2CO3‐TNS; where TNS denotes triangular nanosheets) was prepared by a facile solvothermal method. The Pd/La2O2CO3‐TNS catalysts exhibited excellent catalytic activity and recycling stability for hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde to hydrocinnamaldehyde with turnover frequency of up to 41 238 h−1. This enhanced activity of Pd/La2O2CO3‐TNS results from strong metal–support interac… Show more

“…The determined d‐spacing derived from HR‐TEM indicates the La‐NS catalyst exposes preferentially (001) facets (Figure 1f). From TEM studies, we infer that the predominantly exposed facets of the La‐NR and La‐NS catalysts are oriented along (110) and (100) facets, respectively, which consistent with our previous work [23] . The surface atomic configurations of their (110), (001) and (100) planes of La 2 O 2 CO 3 are present in Figure 2.…”

“…The enhanced activity was attribute to surface basic sites of La 2 O 2 CO 3 and strong interaction between metal Cu and La 2 O 2 CO 3 support [22] . Recently We also developed a Pd nanoparticles dispersed on triangle‐shaped La 2 O 2 CO 3 nanosheets exposing predominantly the (001) planes catalysts, which was highly active for hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde [23] . “…The acidic and basic amounts of CeO 2 and Ce 1 Zn 0.1 O δ nanorods were calculated by the adsorption Capacity of CO 2 and NH 3 desorbed from these acid and base sites and summarized in Table 2. As shown in Figure 6a, there were two major CO 2 desorption peaks at around 50–200 °C and 200–400 °C on the both samples, which were assign to weak and moderate base sites, respectively [31] . It can be seen that doping of Zn almost had no effect on the number and distribution of base sites.…”

[31] It can be seen that doping of Zn almost had no effect on the number and distribution of base sites. Ce 1 Zn 0.1 O δ nanorods exhibited more weak and fewer moderate basic sites than CeO 2 nanorods.…”
