PC-based medical data acquisition and analysis

Abstract: Biomedical signals are frequently complex waveforms that occur in a very noisy environment. Although the information content and the best way to present this information is under constant study in the medical and research community, advanced signal processing techniques have proven to be invaluable to the analysis of biomedical signals. With the increased capability of personal computers (PCs), the acquisition and analysis of biomedical signals is becoming practical at the individual physician level. This paper… Show more

“…The requirements of an acquisition system are the several connected channels, the individual configuration for each device and the reliability of data transmission. There are many researches in this area [1][2]. Green and his team [1] developed the data acquisition card that can plug into slot of the ordinary PC.…”

“…There are many researches in this area [1][2]. Green and his team [1] developed the data acquisition card that can plug into slot of the ordinary PC. The card has 8 conversion channels (4 analog-to-digital conversion channels and 4 digital-to-analog conversion channels), eight digital inputs and eight digital output lines.…”

“…The DC can be scanned from −2 to 2 V with any desired step. The software part was developed using MATLAB ® [9], but this type of application using C is freely available in the internet. As an application of the developed instrument it has been tested in obtaining the photocurrent response of the Si 3 N 4 /SiO 2 /Si heterostructure, and found to be excellent for general purpose use.…”
