Pb2+ ION REMOVAL ABILITY OF HYDROXYAPATITE

Abstract: The lead removal ability of two kinds of board-shape hydroxyapatites with different Ca/P molar ratio were evaluated. The samples reacted with Pb(NO3)2 in an aqueous solution produced a mixture of hydroxyapatite and hydroxypyromorphite. The results showed that Board-shape Ca-deficient type HAP(HAP-400) has Pb2+ removal ability superior to Board-shape HAP with stoichiometric composition(HAP-300).

“…However, the peaks of HAP-400-Pb seem sharper than those of HAP-300-Pb. As reported previously, 13 the reaction mechanisms for Pb are different between the cases of HAP-300 and HAP-400. The former involves only substitution of Ca 2+ with Pb…”

“…The removal proceeds by elution of Ca and formation of lead apatite. 13 However, reactivity of HAP-400 with the other heavy metals has not been reported so far. Therefore, we investigated reaction of HAP-400 with heavy metals, Fe (III), Fe (II), Cu (II), Cd (II), Cr (III), Co (II), Ni (II), and Zn (II), together with Pb (II), and elucidated the reaction mechanisms.…”

“…Therefore, we investigated photo-Fenton reaction of ATZ with Fe(III)-treated hydroxyapatites prepared from hydroxyapatites, HAP-100, HAP-200, HAP-300, and HAP-400, with different crystal morphologies and Ca/P ratios (referred to 2.1) [20][21][22][23] followed by control investigations using other Fe(III) compounds (Fe2O3, FePO4, FeOOH) as catalysts and ARS as a substrate. In addition, liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy analysis (LC-MS) of the resulting solution in the reaction of ATZ was carried out to elucidate and indentify oxidative degradation products.…”

“…The morphology of the resulting particle reveals plate-shape. 15) In addition to the three kinds of HAp powders, spherical HAp powders are synthesized via a spray-dry method, this powders is composed of spherical agglomerates of needle-shaped microcrystals with the sizes of 0.2-0.3 mm. 14) In the present study, we prepared four kinds of IP6/HAp powders using commercially-available HAp powders with diferent morphology and specific surface area (SSA): HAp-100 (fine particle, 33-37 m 2 ・g -1 ), HAp-200 (hexagonal shape, 1-2 m 2 ・g -1 ), HAp-400 (plate shape, 37 m 2 ・g -1 ), and s-HAp (spherical shape, 45 m 2 ・g -1 ).…”
