“… Mammalian taxa identified from Whistler Squat local fauna localities TMM-41372 and TMM-41466 and their Bridgerian (Br) and Uintan (Ui) biochronological zone ranges based on Wilson [7] , Wilson and Runkel [51] , Walton [60] , Williams and Kirk [12] , Robinson [1] , Gunnell et al [2] , and this study. Gray bars indicate range extension of non-endemic taxa compared to Robinson et al [1] and Gunnell et al [2] .…”

“…However, TMM 41372-279 exhibits the highly lophate cusps that are typical of the genus Pauromys . This specimen was included by Walton [60] in the hypodigm of Pauromys texensis , and we see no reason to revise this attribution. All other known specimens of P. texensis occur at a single locality that is located higher in the Devil’s Graveyard Formation stratigraphic section (TMM 41745; “Serendipity”, Figure 2 ) and considered to be Ui3 in age by Robinson et al [1] .…”

“…Microeutypomys is known from the Uintan of the Texas GulfCoast and from the Duchesnean ofSaskatchewan, but has not yet been reported from any of the other welldocumented Uintan or Duchesnean assemblages of the Northern Interior and of Trans-Pecos Texas, 400 kilometers from Laredo. This spotty distribution is in contrast to the speciose small rodents of the sciuravid and eomyid clades, such as Pauromys (Walton, 1993) or "Namatomys," ERRATUM Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, Volume 13, Number I. The most parsimonius tree depicting the phylogeny ofthe Sphenosuchia (Figure 21) in the paper by WU and Chatterjee was an outdated version; the authors did not realize this since the senior author had no chance to read the proof.…”

“…Lophs" and "lophatc" (for long, tall structures) and "rugosity" (for non-structural wrinkling) refer to deeper tooth topography manifested in underlying dentine. Cusp terminology is as in Walton (1993 (Storer, 1988).…”
