Abstract: Le temps des synthèses paraissait clos. L'histoire nouvelle était avant tout monographique. Voilà que le livre de Paul Veyne vient nous rappeler qu'il y a encore place dans l'histoire universitaire pour une certaine aventure conceptuelle.
