Background: Cervical cancer not only has the potential to cause physical suffering but also causes psychological suffering. Considering the negative impact of cervical cancer, cervical cancer sufferers need family support. Family support is the attitude, actions and acceptance of the family towards a sick family member. Family attention is very helpful in choosing the health of his family.Purpose: To determine the impact that cervical cancer patients receive when they receive family support.Method: Qualitative research with a case study research strategy. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews involving three participants. The data is then subjected to domain analysis.Results: In this research, 2 themes were found, namely, knowing the support provided by the family and knowing the impact felt by the patient when receiving family support.Conclusion: Family support is very important for cervical cancer patients undergoing the treatment process, because it will have an impact that will be felt by the patient later. The impact is felt like the patient feels cared for, given appreciation, loved and feels owned by his family. so that the patient has the motivation to recover and has confidence in worrying about the disease they are suffering from.

Background: Cancer is a life crisis that can have devastating consequences not only on the affected individual but also on his/her caregivers. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of psychological resilience and metacognitions of cancer survivors and their family caregivers (FCs) on fear of recurrence (FoR). Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design while adhering to the STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology) guidelines. Data were collected from 112 cancer survivors and 112 FCs recruited from 5 oncology hospitals. Results:The cancer survivors and caregivers reported low levels of psychological resilience, which we found to be correlated with great fear of recurrence in cancer survivors and FCs. It was also in relation with metacognitions in cancer survivors and FCs. The findings showed that psychological resilience negatively predicted the fear of recurrence, whereas the metacognitions positively predicted the fear of recurrence in cancer survivors and FCs.The total effects of psychological resilience on the FoR in cancer survivors and FCs were 0. 920 (confidence interval [CI], −2.059 to 0.072) and 0.061 (CI, −0.475 to 0.474), respectively. The total effects of metacognition on the FoR in cancer survivors and FCs were 1.164 (CI, 0.217-2.371) and 0.486 (CI, 0.016-1.058), respectively. Conclusions:The findings underline the direct and indirect mediating role of psychological resilience and metacognition of cancer survivors and FCs on FoR.Implication for Practice: The findings are particularly important to oncology nurses, who as 24-hour care providers are important sources of psychosocial care. Their awareness of factors influencing FoR is critical for achieving positive outcomes.

“A kaleidoscope of relationships” — cervical cancer survivors’ perspectives on their intimate relationships: A qualitative study

Objective Cervical cancer is known to affect survivors’ intimate relationships, as well as their communication and coping. Yet little is known about the perspectives of these survivors on their intimate relationships in the context of their needs during and after medical treatment. Additionally, only a few studies have focused on survivors’ perceived needs or on existing psychosexual support. Understanding these perceptions can help provide a tailored response and improve dyadic interventions. The aim of this study was to examine cervical cancer survivors’ perspectives on their intimate relationships during and after their treatment. Method The present study adopted a qualitative-phenomenological approach. In-depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 survivors of cervical cancer between the ages of 38 and 44 who were diagnosed at stages I–II and were treated with radiotherapy or chemo-radiotherapy and surgery. Data collection continued until saturation of concepts was reached. The results underwent thematic analysis. Results Analysis of the findings revealed two key themes: (1) Together and apart in the shadow of cervical cancer. This theme focuses on the recovery period as a potential opportunity for changing and improving the couple relationship, such that men no longer withdraw but rather provide their partners with needed support and encouragement. (2) Changes in sexual life and couple intimacy. This theme focuses on changes in sexual relations, which have become a burden, painful, and something to avoid. Significance of results The study provides a comprehensive picture of intimate relationships during and after cervical cancer treatment and highlights the women's needs and desires for support from their intimate partners. The discussion notes that oncology providers can better facilitate supportiveness on the part of cervical cancer partners by offering better couple-oriented education and interventions to promote couple communication.
