Traceability has recently gained considerable attention in the textile industry. Traceability stands for information sharing about a product including the product history, specification, or location. With the involvement of globally dispersed actors in the textile supply chain, ensuring appropriate product quality with timely supplies is crucial for surviving in this industry with ever increasing competition. Hence it is of paramount importance for a supply chain actor to track every product and trace its history in the supply chain. In this context, this paper presents a framework to implement traceability in the textile supply chain. A system approach has been followed, where firstly the usage requirement of traceability is defined, and then a framework for implementing intra-actor or internal traceability and inter-actor or external traceability is discussed. This article further presents a sequential diagram to demonstrate the interaction and information exchange between the actors in the supply chain, when the traceability information is requested. An example is also illustrated for data storage using a relational database management system and information exchange using XML for the textile weaver. Finally, the article discusses challenges and future studies required to implement traceability in the textile supply chain.

Each event in the chain, like production of transportation, packing, distribution or processing results in a different product which can have its own information associated within the tracing system. From the raw material to the sale of goods, more and more information needs to be gathered and made available. Supplementary information may also be collected at any step, in order to provide data for analysis and optimization of production practices.Using web-based systems for data processing, storage and transfer makes possible a flexible way of information access, networking and usability. In this paper an architectural proposal is presented and the proposed solution is tested by the implementation of a prototype. The software architecture presented makes use of a series of standards than offer new possibilities in traceability control and management. For testing the prototype, information from precision farming together with the information recorded during the transport and delivery was used. The system enables full traceability and it complies with all existing traceability standards.

In recent years, there have been many attempts to connect the latest RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology with EIS (Enterprise Information System) and utilize them. However, in most cases the focus is only on the simultaneous multiple reading capability of the RFID technology neglecting the management of massive data created from the reader. As a result, it is difficult to obtain time-related information such as flow prediction and analysis in process control.In this paper, we suggest a new method called 'procedure tree', an enhanced and complementary version of PathTree which is one of RFID data mining techniques, to manage massive RFID data sets effectively and to perform a real-time process control efficiently. We will evaluate efficiency of the proposed system after applying real-time process management system connected with the RFID-based EIS.Through the suggested method, we are able to perform such tasks as prediction or tracking of process flow for real-time process control and inventory management efficiently which the existing RFID-based production system could not have done.
