Patterning Action for a Living Future

Abstract

In this time of fully disembodied enthrallment to virtual systems, the question is: how do we act to realize a living future? One answer is to define and disseminate processes that embody agency for restoration of human-injured habitats. This article offers patterns for restoring intrinsic (esoteric) processes long ceded to extrinsic (exoteric) processes of centralization. These patterns embody and integrate human being, becoming, interbeing, and inter-becoming by entraining motivation and aspiration to swift, purposive, lifelong adaptation. This patterning is crafted and adapted by individuals and groups to form syncretic, integrative, synchronic life vectors that meld wisdom gleaned from ancient esoteric traditions (e.g., Judeo-Christian seeing from within and Hindu catalysis of personal transformation) with modern exoteric constructs (e.g. agency, interventionism, and ecology). Nothing short of drawing on the full history of human adaptation and evolution will allow our species to transform anthropogenic (and non-anthropogenic) hazards to continuation of life on earth.
