Abstract:Prematurity and low birth weight contributes to 27.8% of neonatal deaths in rural areas of Bangladesh. Fluid, electrolyte and metabolic abnormalities are the commonest derangements encountered in preterm infants due to their renal immaturity and relatively immature skin.
