Oral disease is a major public health issue affecting more than 3.5 billion people worldwide. 1 Among oral conditions, tooth decay is known as the most common chronic childhood disease. According to the Global Burden of Diseases Scale measured in 192 countries in 2018, the prevalence of untreated dental caries decreased by only 4% compared to 1990, being almost stable for the past three decades. 2 According to the reports, the prevalence of caries is the highest in Spain and France followed by North Asia, South America, the Middle East and Africa, while North America has been reported to have the lowest prevalence of caries. The prevalence of this dental condition has been estimated to be 31-40% in Iran. 3 Oral health assessment in children and healthcare planning for this age group are among important indicators of child health assessment in many communities 4 for several reasons, including social
