Among the numerous pathological problems, cracks are considered of greater relevance, as they are treated as a warning of element collapse. They directly affect the internal structure of the component, that is, the mechanism of occurrence is correlated with cracks; sessing the cause, it is possible to perform an effective correction. This study sought to present the behavior and causes that originate such pathological manifestation in single-family residences, completed in up to 10 years, in the city of Erechim -RS. Through on-site visits, monthly monitoring of the units was carried out to assess the progression or stagnation of the cracks for adequate therapy. Promoting the evaluation of the rheological behavior of materials, which if neglected in the design and execution phase, will show constructive failures, such as those presented in the study. As a result, 69.23% of the cataloged cracks are manifested in the sealing masonry, due to external factors, such as overload and differential settlement, and these cracks are considered to be at risk, as they present a risk to the physical integrity and to the environment. equity, in case it collapses; recommending the prescribed immediate intervention. As for the other openings, 15.38% are made of rigid mortar coating, 7.69% of porcelain tiles and the same for connection between structure and sealing masonry. All the homes evaluated were built or renovated without any project and a qualified technician to monitor the work, being able to observe the consequences, due to the number of pathological manifestations, not just the anomaly in the study.
