“…Likewise, as underlying inflammatory processes may trigger or exacerbate fibromyalgia and its comorbidities, 13 educational modules that cover anti-inflammatory lifestyle and medications may largely benefit patients with fibromyalgia or chronic widespread pain who have concomitant inflammatory rheumatic diseases, including rheumatic arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. 14 These lifestyle determinants include diet, smoking, drinking, sleep, [15][16][17][18] and other habits that serve as risk factors for fibromyalgia, 19 for which lifestyle modifications may promote symptom alleviation and improve the quality of life of patients with fibromyalgia.…”

“…Patients with and without OSA were separated in the study by Thakur et al, using diagnostic criteria including the International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD‐9‐CM), the Berlin questionnaire, and apnea‐hypopnea index (AHI) 1 . However, as the severity of OSA could be stratified by AHI, 2 subgroup analyses based on AHI could be employed to reflect the association between the severity of OSA and the incidence of RA. Aside from AHI, respiratory disturbance index (RDI) 3 and whether sleep surgeries 4,5 including tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, hyoid suspension, genioglossus advancement, or maxillomandibular advancement were performed may also indicate the severity of OSA.…”

“…1,2 Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a syndrome characterized by the recurrent anatomical narrowing and collapsing of the upper airway during one's sleep period, resulting in intermittent arterial desaturation and hypoxemia, sleep arousals, and sympathetic hyperactivity. 3,4 Obstructive sleep apnea is determined by the number of times apnea and hypopnea occur per hour during the sleep period based upon the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI). It can be measured through a polysomnography (PSG) and reflects the true physiology of breathing during sleep.…”
