“…On the other hand, it is observed that there is a higher level of internalized stigma among patients who were treated at mental health hospital in Jordan compared to developed countries such as the United States, Japan, and European countries, where low mean self‐stigma scores (1.61; 2.33) were found using the ISMI, same as the current study 35,36 . However, the levels of internalized stigma in this study are in the same lines as those observed in low‐income Arab countries, such as; Egypt 21 who use the ISMI, and the felt stigma scale ( M = 28.24, SD = 7.63) in the study by Mahmoud and Berma, 19 and African countries, like Sudan 37 who use structured standardized questions that assesses stigma attitude.
