Patient self‐report RADAI (Rheumatoid Arthritis Disease Activity Index) joint counts on an MDHAQ (Multidimensional Health Assessment Questionnaire) in usual care of consecutive patients with rheumatic diseases other than rheumatoid arthritis

Abstract: Results. In patients with RA, SLE, OA, PsA, and gout, mean RADAI scores (range 0 -48) were 12.4, 6.5, 10.1, 6.7, and 2.7, respectively. The mean numbers of involved joint groups (range 0 -16) were 6.9, 3.8, 4.8, 4.5, and 1.7, respectively, and the median numbers were 6, 2, 4, 4, and 1, respectively. RADAI scores were correlated significantly with the physician global estimate, except in SLE, and at higher levels with the MDHAQ and RAPID3 scores in all diagnostic groups. Conclusion. The RADAI self-report joint … Show more

“…Another report documents the value of the RADAI in most rheumatic diseases. 32 RAPID3 scores are calculated from the 3 RA Core Data Set 33 measures for FN, pain, and PATGL, each scored 0 to 10 for a total score range of 0 to 30, 17 before the encounter with the rheumatologist. RAPID3 severity categories, defined in RA, are 3 or less for remission, 3.1 to 6.0 for low severity, 6.1 to 12.0 for moderate severity, and more than 12 for high severity.…”

“…To date, the use of joint counts to indicate the level of joint-pain comorbidity in people with knee or hip OA is common [2-5]. By simply summing up the number of joints that are indicated as painful for more than half of the time during the last month, a fast and easy impression of a patient’s overall degree of joint-pain comorbidities is obtained.…”
