Patient Perceived Benefit in Facial Aesthetic Procedures: FACE-Q as a Tool to Study Botulinum Toxin Injection Outcomes

“…88 A total of 20 of the 57 female patients who were eligible for the analysis received ABO injections, and the remaining patients received ONA ( n = 18) or INCO ( n = 19). Patient satisfaction with the overall appearance of their face increased by 18% in patients treated with ABO, which was not statistically significantly different ( P = 0.33) from that of the other BoNT-A groups (ONA 29%, INCO 36%).…”

“…The FACE-Q -Satisfaction with Facial Appearance Overall Scale was culturally adapted and tested for reproducibility and construct validity in rhytidoplasty patients. This is a short, objective and easy-to-answer scale that captures information specific to satisfaction with overall appearance and facial geometry and has been used in many studies (5,7,11,16). The general guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation of instruments were carefully followed to ensure the quality of the Brazilian version of the instrument.…”

“…To address the shortage of PRO instruments available to plastic surgeons and dermatologists, in 2010, Klassen et al developed the FACE-Q, a set of scales for use in patients undergoing aesthetic and surgical facial procedures that can be used independently by clinicians and researchers (6,15). The FACE-Q, unlike other PRO questionnaires, is comprehensive (16). In addition to capturing changes in patient satisfaction with overall facial appearance due to aesthetic intervention, it assesses the satisfaction of specific facial regions and patients' perception of appearance in relation to their age.…”

“…Botox injections, facial fillers, face-lifts, and eye-lid surgery, to name a few aesthetic facial procedures, have become a magic potion for several women (Mya et al, 2019). Several women apply the procedures to amplify their physical beauty and self-worth, some observed the procedures as extremely risky, and still some disagreed that the procedures stemmed from the social deflation of later on life (Chang et al, 2016). The present study assessed the knowledge about cosmetic surgery and perceived satisfaction with Botox therapy among female students in Karachi, Pakistan.…”
