Pathways of DNA unlinking: A story of stepwise simplification

Abstract: In Escherichia coli DNA replication yields interlinked chromosomes. Controlling topological changes associated with replication and returning the newly replicated chromosomes to an unlinked monomeric state is essential to cell survival.
