Pathophysiology of Red Blood Cell Trapping in Ischemic Acute Kidney Injury

Abstract: Red blood cell (RBC) trapping describes the accumulation of RBCs in the microvasculature of the kidney outer medulla that occurs following ischemic acute kidney injury (AKI).
