Pathogenetic mechanisms for the development of hematological disorders in induced fatty liver disease in Wistar rats and assessment of the regulatory effects of carnosine and α-lipoic acid

“…As has been repeatedly shown in clinical observations, deficiency of this vitamin is an important etiological factor in the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease [41] and metabolic syndrome [42]; in particular, the latter is reflected in the growth of LDL cholesterol levels in agreement with our observations (see Figure 5c). Deficiency of vitamin B 12 [43] and lipoic acid [44,45] can also disturb lipid metabolism and lead to excess fat accumulation in the liver; this is considered the initial study of steatohepatitis.
