Patent Protection of the Intellectual Property – Technology Fields and Industry Analysis

Abstract

Abstract. In this paper the industry and top patent applicants was studied from perspective of 4 types of intellectual property (IP) and 3 patent systems. The purpose of this study was to map world patents applications. World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) data base was used. Results show that there is a growing trend in three analyzed patent systems and patents applications span a wide range of technologies. Under PCT procedures three leading fields of technologies: Electrical machinery, Computer technologies, and Medical technologies was found. Trademark applications are focused on Research and Technology and Agriculture sector, Industrial design on Textiles and accessories.
