“…In our series, we used postoperative chest drains in early years (17 infants), but this was eliminated later to simplify the postoperative nursing care, safety, and comfort for the patient. The reported residual ductal patency rate on auscultation is 3–5%; 17,24,25 in our study, there was no postoperative ductal patency, which was confirmed by the absence of the murmur. Thus, we had 100% successful clinical closure of the ductus with the two described techniques.…”

“…Surgery had been performed twice in patient 6. Eight patients were included in our previous reports (patients [3][4][5][6][7][8][9] and patient 12) [6,9]. Patients ranged in age from 3.2 to 44.6 years (median 4.6 years) and in weight from 13 to 62 kg (median 16.5 kg).…”

“…The device can be used even in the presence of cardiac failure, pulmonary hypertension and ductal calcification [12]. Pulmonary vascular disease w'ith Eiscnmenger syndrome and active IE are contraindica tions to any form of ductal closure [11], Surgical closure of PDA has become a safe and effective procedure with low mortality and morbidity [15,16]. Hence, for the nonsurgical closure of PDA to be accepted, it should have at least comparable results and other advantages.…”
