Objectives: The objective of the study was to identify the allergens showing positive patch test reaction (using Indian standard battery of allergens) in cement workers with clinically diagnosed allergic contact dermatitis (CD) to cement attending a tertiary referral center. Materials and Methods: We included cement workers with clinically diagnosed allergic CD to cement who attended the dermatology outpatient clinic of our tertiary referral center from January 2013 to December 2013. We did patch testing in all the cases ( after subsidence of active dermatitis) with Indian standard battery of patch test allergens and documented the allergens that showed a positive reaction. Results: Forty-seven (94%) of the 50 study participants showed a positive reaction to one or more of the allergens. The most common allergen that showed a positive reaction was potassium dichromate (43/50, 86%). Twenty-five patients (50%) showed positive reactions to more than 1 allergen. Four patients (8%) showed positive reactions only to allergens that were not seen in cement. Limitations: Small sample size and lack of information on clinical response of dermatitis to avoidance of identified allergen were the major limitations. Conclusion: Twenty-five (50%) patients showing positive reactions to more than 1 allergen tested and 4 (8%) showing positive patch test reaction to none of the allergens in cement (but to other allergens) highlight the role of patch testing in identifying the probable allergens in patients with clinically diagnosed allergic CD to cement.

Background: Recent trends in the sensitization of construction workers show a decrease in potassium dichromate and an increase in epoxy resin sensitization.Objectives: To present the trends of occupational contact allergy of construction workers in Greece from 2009 to 2018. Methods:We retrospectively reviewed the files of patients with eczema patch tested in our Contact Dermatitis Clinic who were construction workers.Results: A total of 191 construction workers initially reported contact dermatitis. Of these, 138 had occupation-relevant allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) or irritant contact dermatitis (ICD). All patients were men. After being patch tested, 98 (71.0%) were diagnosed with ACD and 40 with ICD. Median duration of occupation till onset of ACD was 2 years (interquartile range [IQR] 0.8-7). The hands were the most common location for ACD (73.5%), followed by the trunk (39.8%), the legs (38.8%), and the face (11.2%). Of the patients, 74.6% had lesions affecting multiple body sites.Potassium dichromate (67%) was the most frequent allergen, followed by thiuram mix (37.4%) and cobalt chloride (31.8%). Sensitization to epoxy resins was lower (12.1%). Conclusion:The sensitization pattern of Greek construction workers does not follow the trends in Central or Northern Europe, rather sharing attributes with less industrialized countries.

G Ge er re eç ç v ve e Y Yö ön nt te em ml le er r: : 2015-2016 yılları arasında İstanbul Meslek Hastalıkları Hastanesine primer olarak deri şikâyetiyle başvuran ve mesleki kontakt dermatit (MKD) tanısı alan 51 hastanın yama testi sonuçları geriye dönük olarak dosyalarından elde edildi. Yama testi olarak 36 alerjenden oluşan T.R.U.E. (Thin layer-Rapid-Use-Epicutaneus) test kullanıldı. Test okumaları 48 ve 72. saatlerde Uluslararası Kontakt Dermatit Araştırma Grubu'nun belirlediği kriterlere göre değerlendirilip kaydedildi. İstatistiksel analizlerde Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16 programı kullanıldı. Gruplar arasındaki kategorik veriler "Pearson ChiSquare" testi ile karşılaştırıldı. İstatistiksel anlamlılık sınırı p<0,05 kabul edildi. B Bu ul lg gu ul la ar r: : Hastalarımızın 42 (%82,4)'si erkek, 9 (%17,6)'u kadındı.
