Although while getting a restful night's sleep is essential for your mental and physical health, insomnia is very prevalent. More people are turning to complementary and alternative therapies to treat or prevent sleeplessness. For hundreds of years, herbal treatments like valerian, passionflower, lemon balm, lavender, and California poppy have been utilized successfully. After using these herbal medicines, sleep latency was reduced and subjective and objective measures of sleep quality improved. Their sedative and sleep-inducing effects are caused by interactions with several neurotransmitter systems in the brain, according to molecular research. The plant species can be divided into 76 different genera and 32 different families, with the Asteraceae (24.2%) and Lamiaceae (21.1%) being the most prevalent subgroups. Leaves (29%) and flowers (27%), respectively, are used to make the majority of infusions (70%) and decoctions (25%). Just the most well-known taxa—out of the 106 known—are treated here (A. arvensis L., C. nepeta L., C. monogyna Jacq., H. lupulus L., L. nobilis L., L. angustifolia Mill., M. sylvestris L., M. chamomilla L., M. officinalis L., O. basilicum L., P. rhoeas L., P. somniferum L., R. officinalis L., T. platyphyllus Scop., and V. officinalis L.). Further study is required to confirm the therapeutic potential of these substitutes and define the mechanism of action of bioactive compounds because only seven of the fifteen species chosen have been investigated for pharmacological activity as hypnotic-sedatives.

Patterns of chromatin accessibility, which are in turn altered by epigenetic mechanisms, are responsible for determining the interactions that take place between transcription machinery, genes, and the cis-regulatory elements of those genes. Mutations that interfere with epigenetic processes frequently have the unfortunate side effect of causing cancer. Since these mutations can be undone, numerous anticancer treatments that target epigenetic pathways are now being developed and evaluated. (Cancer) is becoming more and more common everywhere. This decline in clinical outcomes is a result of a number of factors, including late diagnosis, a lack of efficient treatments for particular cancer subtypes, and drug resistance. Treatment resistance and stemness traits have been recognised as markers of this disease, and it has been demonstrated that epigenetic changes play a role in the process of cancer growth. Understanding these alterations and how they impact cancer carcinogenesis treatment is challenging but crucial. However, it may be able to provide the special knowledge needed to use these alterations as potential diagnostic, prognostic, therapeutic agents, and predictors of treatment efficacy. This underlines the importance of continued research to advance our knowledge of cancer carcinogenesis and epigenetics and help us overcome these challenges. This review aims to provide an overview of the state of the art in epigenetics research for cancer detection and treatment and to stimulate discussion on this subject.

One of the most common causes of permanent vision loss is glaucoma. Damage to the optic nerve and retinal ganglion cells, the root cause of visual field impairment, is typically the result of elevated intraocular pressure. Some patients' illness worsens even when treated with eye medications that reduce intraocular pressure. The pathophysiology of glaucoma is not only thought to involve mechanical and vascular dysfunctions of the eye, but also oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and excitotoxicity. Therefore, natural compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities may offer a different strategy for treating glaucoma. This review summarizes the most up-to-date preclinical and clinical research on natural compounds that have been proven to contain neuroprotective characteristics for retinal ganglion cells and, consequently, may be useful in the treatment of glaucoma. Baicalein, forskolin, marijuana, ginsenoside, resveratrol, and hesperidin are all effective at lowering intraocular pressure. On the other hand, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptosis mechanisms are among those through which Ginkgo biloba, More research is needed to determine whether natural items can be used as a safe and effective treatment for glaucoma.
