Partnering with Transportation Sector Actors and Advocates to Improve Health Outcomes

Abstract

Chapter 6 argues that where people live and work (and play) has an impact on health and how they interact in communities. Good transport links, it states, are crucial. The chapter looks at the various stakeholders, actors, and influencers of transporation policies and systems in a community. It provides a number of questions for readers to consider with this issue. It concludes that transportation sector planning, investment, maintenance, and governance directly influence population mobility, which can promote or inhibit reliable access to social determinants of health and opportunities to thrive across the lifespan.
