Particle Swarm Optimization-Based Routing Protocol for Clustered Heterogeneous Sensor Networks With Mobile Sink

Abstract: In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) sensor nodes with sensing, computing and communication infrastructure are randomly deployed and organized as clusters. Most of the existing sensor networks focus on homogeneous in which the cluster heads are changed periodically. To improve the lifetime of energy constraint battery powered WSN and to avoid energy sink-hole problem; Clustered Heterogeneous Sensor Networks (HSN) are analyzed with mobile sink. Our proposed method combines load balanced clustering, transmission po… Show more

“…We assume that the nodes are randomly deployed, immobile, and with non-rechargeable batteries. We consider our protocol as a variation of the LEACH protocol; therefore, we use it as a benchmark to our mode besides the performance of LEACH with Fuzzy Descriptors (Fuzzy-LEACH) by Nayak and Devulapalli [23] and clustered HSNs with mobile sink by using PSO proposed by Sudarmani and Kumar [24]. The simulation results show that our model outperforms both LEACH and Fuzzy-LEACH protocol and CHSN with mobile sink by using PSO.…”

“…We can get the target function y based on the truth table. The fitvalue is given by: fitvalue ¼ X 2 n 1 fitnumber i (8) where fitnumber i is the i th input combination of truth table suffice for the evolution circuit and n is the number of inputs. “…Some of the techniques and methods that are used to design the proposed algorithm are discussed here to know how power is dynamically reconciled to meet the constraint of power depletion in nodes of the network. Sudarmani and Kumar (2013) have used a novel technique particle swarm optimization-based routing Protocol for clustered heterogeneous sensor networks with mobile sink. PSO is used to find the optimal path for mobile sink to collect data from cluster heads and the technique has lower energy consumption and improved lifetime over static sink.…”
