Participatory modeling from a stakeholder perspective: On the influence of collaboration and revisions on psychological ownership and perceived model quality

Abstract: Participatory enterprise modeling is about gathering domain experts and involving them directly in the creation of models, aided by modeling experts. It is meant to increase commitment to and quality of models. This paper presents an exploratory study focusing on the subjective view of the domain experts. We investigated the influence of direct collaboration versus individual modeling, and the influence of model revisions by modeling experts on psychological ownership and perceived model quality. We chose proc… Show more

“…The limitation of the eSCM not facilitating co-modeler context As indicated by Gutschmidt et al [ 37 ], a prerequisite for constructive participation is that participants need to know one another. Our experiment mitigated the risk of hampered participation due to limited relationship-building, providing the facilitator of the participative session the freedom to select a colleague.…”

“…Separating between different modeling approaches will most likely have an impact on the suitable support artefacts as they allow for more advanced (i. e., formal, complex) artefacts to be used if a modeling expert for these artefacts is involved. That means, the creation of models can become more difficult, while there might still be limits to the artefact used in terms of understandability of the developed model, i. e., its notation (Gutschmidt et al 2022).…”
