Partially Excited Antenna Array for Near-Field Patterned Focusing

Abstract: In this letter, a near-field focusing method for generating patterned focusing is studied. A partially excited planar array antenna is proposed for patterned focusing, which effectively suppresses the sidelobes of the focusing pattern. The phase of the array antenna is adjusted by a digital phase shifter. A prototype was made and tested to verify the effectiveness of the method.
