Partial Discharge Measurement for Cable Terminators of XLPE Power Cable

Abstract: This paper presents a partial discharge (PD) measurement for cable terminators of XLPE power cable. The power cable of rated voltage 24 kV and a 2 cross sectional area of 240 mm was used in the experiment. The partial discharge level and dielectric loss are very important factors to indicate the insulation quality of power cable. Therefore, measurement techniques of partial discharge and dielectric loss are required in high voltage applications. This paper proposes a design and construction of a cable terminat… Show more

“…Multilevel Inverters are of great importance in the field of high voltage and power applications, such as High-Power AC Motors Drives, Active Power Filters and Renewable Energy Integration [1][2] [3]. Currently, different types of Multilevel Inverter have been proposed, in which three topologies are very important, namely Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) [4][5] [6], Flying Capacitor (FC) [7] [8] and Cascaded H-Bridges (CHB) [9].…”

“…Such as the need of Power outage test, a lot of manpower and material resources used, residual or maintenance existed too often [4]. At the same time, the life expectancy of power cable in a normal environment is 20-30 years, with the increase of the running time, now part of the high-voltage cable has gradually into the middle age of life expectancy of cables and accessories [5][6][7], which will increase the possibility of cable fault. Blackouts will be caused with the breakdown of the cable.…”
