In case of intermittent swellings, abdominal complaints, laryngeal edema, pleural effusions or ascites, differential diagnosis should involve hereditary angioedema. With early diagnosis and adequate treatment, prognosis is good. Since ACE inhibitors can aggravate the disease they are contraindicated.
