“…In addition, patient-centric care is less fragmented when all professionals' boundaries are blurred unlike in the traditional multidisciplinary approach. New care models based on recent technological developments that combine remote monitoring and self-monitoring may allow for a decrease in hospital care and allow truly patient-centric care to be achieved (40).…”

“…A starting point for this activity was the publication in 2009 of the hypothesis about the possibility of adjusting the necessary dose of apomorphine pumps by detecting motor fluctuations with wearable sensors ( 96 ). Continuing with the study of motor symptoms in PD, new lines of research, focused on ambulatory monitoring of specific motor symptoms, were mainly performed in the projects Monitoring the Mobility of Parkinson's Patients for Therapeutic Purposes (MoMoPa Project) ( 97 ), Home-Based Empowered Living for Parkinson ' s Disease (HELP project) ( 98 , 99 ), Personal Health Device for the Remote and Autonomous Management of Parkinson ' s Disease (REMPARK project) ( 24 , 100 , 101 ), the MoMoPa-2 project ( 102 ), and the MASPARK project ( 103 ). Within these projects, the resultant algorithmic set was validated by introducing new patients.…”

“…In a patient affected with bradykinesia, gait is altered by reducing the cadence and the step length, a part of having problems of instability. Bradykinetic gait is affected by levodopa ( 21 , 22 ), and some studies have focused on bradykinetic gait as a crucial symptom to analyze the behavior of motor fluctuations along the day ( 23 , 24 ). Due to the motor complications of the disease, the patient takes the medication before the doctor's visit for reaching the healthcare center without mobility problems.…”

“…Yet, all solutions are limited to the use of the metronome as a strategy for cueing. In addition to the limited effects they may offer, overly simplistic sounds such as the metronome can become monotonous after prolonged use [5]. Alternative types of auditory stimulation -for example, sound synthesis and (rhythm-matched) music -are currently not supported.…”

“…However, and while auditory cueing is simple, effective, and free from side-effects, current solutions lack personalization options. In addition, they are affected by the lack novelty effect due to stimuli repetition [5,35].…”
