Parity Doubling in Particle Physics

Abstract: Parity doubling in excited hadrons is reviewed. Parity degeneracy in hadrons was first experimentally observed 40 years ago. Recently new experimental data on light mesons caused much excitement and renewed interest to the phenomenon, which still remains to be enigmatic. The present retrospective review is an attempt to trace the history of parity doubling phenomenon, thus providing a kind of introduction to the subject. We begin with early approaches of 1960s (Regge theory and dynamical symmetries) and end up… Show more

“…Only that way the leading logarithmic behavior (22) can be reproduced. Similar studies have been carried out in the past for other correlators in the Regge approach [75][76][77][78][79][80][81][82][83][84][85]. Here we focus on the Π ΘΘ correlator defined in Eq.…”

“…The issue of possible restoration of the full U(N f ) L ×U(N f ) R chiral symmetry attracted much attention lately mainly in connection with the inspiring works of Glozman and collaborators [5][6][7][8][9][10]. The history of the topic of parity doubling on the Regge trajectories is presented in the review papers [11,12].…”

“…If L is identified with the real orbital angular momentum of quark-antiquark pair in mesons, the relation (15) predicts a hydrogen-like kind of degener-acy in meson spectra [13]. The spectral law (15) was observed in the light non-strange mesons by several authors [14,15].…”
