“…As outlined in this paper’s introduction, there have been very few empirical investigations into the experience of parenting a gifted child (Jolly & Matthews, 2012). The only three recent studies published on this topic have focused on (a) sources of stress experienced by parents recruited from a clinical center for gifted children (Renati et al, 2017), (b) feedback from parents whose child participated in a gifted education program in the UK for students from families with lower income (Koshy et al, 2017), and (c) three mothers’ experiences of their gifted adolescents’ overexcitabilities (Guthrie, 2019). Although each of these studies had a distinct focus, exploring the overlap and discrepancies between these teams’ findings and the experiences of parents in the current sample offers some ideas about how parents’ experiences seem to be shaped by access to educational and community resources.…”
