“…5 Nevertheless, it should be kept in mind that PCM in adults with underlying malignancies has been reported. 7,8 Histopathologically, PCM is characterized by focal or diffuse interstitial mucin accumulation in the dermis and a mild-to-moderate perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate with variable perifollicular inflammation. 5 However, in our case, perifollicular mucinosis without mucin deposition in the follicular epithelium was striking, explaining the presence of prominent perifollicular papules.…”

“…3,4 The term PCM encompasses a wide and variable spectrum of clinical manifestations such as erythematous urticarial papules, slightly elevated plaques with telangiectasia, infiltrated nodular plaques, or an extensive cutaneous infiltration. [2][3][4]7,8 The distribution of skin lesions in adult PCM differs among published cases affecting the midback and chest, but also other parts of the body such as the shoulders, scalp, forehead, or knee. 4,5,8 Therefore, the skin features in children's PCM appear to differ from adult PCM in appearance, configuration, and distribution, thus raising the possibility that pediatric PCM is a different and better defined condition.…”

“…[ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ] Paraneoplastic cutaneous mucinosis, although very rare, has been reported in the literature in association with pulmonary and hematologic malignancies. [ 8 9 ] All stages of ovarian malignancies can produce cutaneous paraneoplastic manifestations. Although there is no clear evidence about why various malignancies produce cutaneous paraneoplastic manifestation, one hypothesis could be that it is not the cancer that directly effects changes in the skin but rather the immune system itself; it may be that the responses and function of the immune system are subtly altered by ovarian carcinoma or that the malfunctions of the immune system might precede ovarian carcinoma.…”
