“…Paraneoplastic autoimmune diseases may occur simultaneously with cancer diagnosis or precede it by many years, although it may also be seen after cancer treatment as a sign of recurrence. In those cases where ITP occurrence precedes HL, its persistence until HL detection suggests a specific association between the two diseases . In our case, the immune nature of thrombocytopenia was confirmed by the presence of megakaryocytes in bone marrow aspirate, the poor response to platelet transfusion, the rapid rise of platelet count after administration of steroids, the absence of other clinical conditions that could explain thrombocytopenia such as infections and lupus.…”

“…ITP associated with solid tumors has rarely been reported. Most common solid tumors associated with ITP are lung and breast cancer . A 2012 study reviewing 68 published cases of ITP associated with solid tumors regardless of temporal relationship found that 35 (53%) patients in the study had an occurrence of ITP concurrent to the cancer diagnosis, of which only 2 patients achieved complete remission of ITP after cancer treatment (1 after cancer surgery alone, 1 after chemotherapy alone) .…”

“…17 In addition, a recent article identified 168 cases of microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA) in a variety of cancers, and another review identified 34 cases of autoimmune hemolytic anemia associated with Hodgkin lymphoma. 18,19 Granulocytosis A 2009 review identified 758 patients with solid tumors and white blood cell count greater than 40,000/mL.…”
