“…Porous silica and zeolite supports have been impregnated with hydrophilic polyamines, namely tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA)5h, 6 and polyethylenimine (PEI),5b,j, 7 that form hydrogen‐bonds to the surface hydroxyl groups of the supports to form Class 1 sorbents. Hydrophobic aminosilanes such as 3‐aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS)5b, 8 and 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES)5i, 9 have been grafted to the supports to form Class 2 sorbents.…”

“…However, one disadvantage of this process is the degradation of the powder or pellet sorbent 5f. 11 Several studies were conducted to assess the steam stability of Class 1 and Class 2 sorbents, in which their physical and chemical properties before and after steam treatment under various conditions were compared 5d,f,j,k. 7b, 9b, 10b, 11, 12 These conditions included either batch (autoclave, steam vessel) or continuous (packed bed reactor) set‐ups, steam temperatures between 103 and 130 °C, and steam treatment times between 75 min and 73 h.…”

“…PEI and PEG polymers were dissolved in methanol and mixed for 30 min, before the solution was mixed with the silica to form a slurry. 51 The slurry was mixed for an additional 30 min and then placed in a rotary evaporator to gradually evaporate methanol over a time period of 4 h. Total polymer loadings in the synthesized sorbents were confirmed by thermogravimetric combustion analysis (TGA SDT Q600, TA Instruments, New Castle, DE) in dry air up to 800 °C with a ramp rate of 10 °C/min. N 2 adsorption isotherms at 77 K (Figure S3) were also carried out to measure the BET surface area and pore volume (Table S6).…”

“…In a typical synthesis, the branched PEI (PEI600, M n = 600 g/mol, Sigma-Aldrich Chemical Co.), PEG ( M n = 200 g/mol, Sigma-Aldrich Chemical Co.), and silica (CARiACT-G10, Fuji Silysia Chemical Co.) were weighed individually to achieve the target loading after impregnation and solvent removal. PEI and PEG polymers were dissolved in methanol and mixed for 30 min, before the solution was mixed with the silica to form a slurry . The slurry was mixed for an additional 30 min and then placed in a rotary evaporator to gradually evaporate methanol over a time period of 4 h. “…Because of direct advantage of mitigating carbon emissions from existing power generation plant with minimum retrofitting by this direct carbon capture and sequestration technology , this topic has drawn wide attentions in recent years . Approaches such as using conventional adsorbents via pressure swing adsorption (PSA), solvent extractions , carbonation using basic minerals have so far been proposed. Among these routes, CO 2 mineral sequestration is probably more attractive on basis of significantly offsetting CO 2 emission onsite , permanent trapping CO 2 in form of carbonate thus avoiding the necessity for continuous poststorage surveillance for CO 2 leakage , obvious advantage over conventional adsorbents of being sensitive to the content of moisture in flue gas and sulfur poisoning .…”
