Parametric influence of magneto elasticity, initial stresses, porosity and thickness ratio on the phase and attenuation traits of SH-waves

Abstract: The present study is devoted to investigate the traversal of shear horizontal wave (SH-waves) in an initial-stressed fluid saturated porous stratum bounded between an initial-stressed magneto-elastic upper stratum and an initial-stressed elastic substrate. We have obtained the exact solution of the governing equations and explained in detail for various effective parameters. The displacement relation is developed with the help of Maxwell’s fundamental equations and Maxwell’s tensor. The impact of diverse param… Show more

“…Additionally, two other types of surface waves, namely Torsional waves and SH waves, have been extensively explored within porous media. These waves have been investigated by Sing et al [55], Pramanik & Manna [56], Gupta et al [57] and Kumari et al [58], among others. Notably, Vashishth & Gupta [59] delved into the decoupling of plane waves in a piezo-poroelastic medium, while Sharma [60] examined the impact of the piezoelectric effect on the harmonic plane waves within the same medium.…”

“…The problem of wave propagation and vibration in magneto-elastic fiberreinforced media is important to the field of engineering and material sciences. Some studies on wave propagation in fiber-reinforcement under the effect of the magnetic field were examined by Verma (1986), Kundu et al (2017), Othman and Lotfy (2013), Gupta et al (2021), , Kumari et al (2021), Mahanty et al (2020) and Gupta et al (2019). In addition to these, one among the factors that may not be ignored is heterogeneity and it is a trivial property of the Earth, which has been drawn attention of the seismologist.…”
